GET YOUR DANCING SHOES ON!

BLACKPOOL PRIDE FESTIVAL ON 14TH AND 15TH JUNE IS READY FOR YOU TO DANCE THE WEEKEND AWAY!
Blackpool Pride Festival is now ready for LGB&T visitors from across the country and also from Europe to stay and have a great weekend of fun, music, dance and festivity!  It is a Festival where we can celebrate our LGB&T lifestyle, not only in the Winter Gardens, but also in our many Partner Bars and there is something for everyone. We have an ethos of inclusion and this means inclusion of everyone within the LGB&T community and their families and friends.

With 9 Partner Venues, 15 Sponsors, 40 gay-owned hotels and a unique gay village, we are all set to hold a fun packed weekend for Britain’s LGB&T community and their friends.  Our Sponsors include the Houndshill Shopping Centre, Mamma Mia and Blackpool Council and they have all contributed to help Blackpool Pride Festival to be a free event in the Winter Gardens.

So please come and enjoy two fun-filled and free afternoons in the Winter Gardens, with great, live entertainment, including 5th Story, the European Same Sex Dance Championships, Christopher Malone, The Krankies, Black Lace, Terri Fox, MK1’s Charlie Rundle and many others still to be announced!

But that is only the start as you can continue to enjoy the party atmosphere in our Partner Bars in and around Blackpool’s NorthShore right through the evenings until the early hours. They will be putting on their own entertainment, making sure there really will be something for everyone. Young, old, male, female, gay, lesbian, bisexual or trans, Blackpool is special because it is the ultimate holiday destination for the LGB&T community.

We start with a parade from Central Pier at 11.00 am on Saturday, 14th June. This is a vehicle and walking parade, led by the Blackpool Brass Band and the Gay Classic Car Group. Vehicles and walking groups should contact Lynda Bagan for an application form at parade@blackpoolpridefest.com

The opening ceremony is at 12.00 noon in St. John’s   Square, immediately outside the Winter Gardens. Inside, the entertainment will begin immediately and continue through to 6.00 pm. In addition, there will be over 50 commercial and information stalls, an adult only bar, a Health Zone including a cinema presentation from Time to Change, an adult only Trans Zone and a large LGB&T Exhibition featuring Polari, LGB&T art, Blackpool’s gay history and even showings of The Gay Wedding Show – The Musical!

Additionally, for LGB&T parents and their friends with youngsters, there is a children’s area with qualified staff, appropriate entertainment and a crèche for under 12’s. This is upstairs and separate from the main adult entertainment areas and it really does mean everyone can enjoy themselves!

On the Sunday, we start again at 1.00 pm and go right through the afternoon until around 5.00 pm, with many Tribute Acts and culminating with a great performance from the legendary Terri Fox. Afterwards, you can purchase tickets go to see the grand finals of the European Same Sex Dance Championships, perhaps have a quick rest and then continue to the After Party and more entertainment in the North Shore Bars!

The weekend continues on the Monday evening with the Pet Shop Boys appearing at the Winter Gardens’ Opera House. Tickets are available at http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/event/BLD0506. Be sure to book your hotel early for the entire weekend and ask us for help if you can’t find one!
